RIVERSCOPE: workshop 3: Make Your Mark

Join the Living Museum of Logan and artist Kuweni Dias Mendis in a hands-on session creating a unique set of handmade brushes using natural and found materials. Through meditative mark-making, each person will begin to explore their own visual language- rooted in their personal rhythms and relationship to place.
Activities include:
• Connecting with Place
We begin with a short, mindful walk — observing, listening, and sensing the environment. This gentle immersion helps ground our creative process in the land around us.
• Brush Making
Using collected and provided materials, participants will craft a series of brushes, each designed to leave a distinct mark. The focus will be on experimentation and play, celebrating the uniqueness of each tool.
• Making Your Mark
Through guided meditative drawing exercises, participants will explore their intuitive gestures and mark-making. This is an invitation to unlock your own visual language, using the brushes you’ve made.
Riverscope, is a contemporary, place-based multidisciplinary arts project led by artist Kuweni Dias Mendis, that explores themes of belonging, migrant identity, and regeneration. From April to July, Kuweni will be in residence at the Kingston Butter Factory, engaging with the Logan community through a series of creative and sensory experiences.
