General Information

What to Expect

We are committed to delivering events with consideration for our local community. To support this:

  • Noise monitoring is in place for all concerts and major outdoor events
  • Event planning includes measures to manage impacts where possible
  • Updates are shared in advance to help residents prepare

Noise Management

Live music at an outdoor stage is audible beyond the venue. We know that affects people living nearby, and we take it seriously.

Every outdoor event at the Kingston Butter Factory runs to a documented noise management plan, prepared with independent acoustic advice and modelled against the limits set in Queensland’s law, the Environmental Protection Act 1994. All outdoor events finish by 10pm, and we have an acoustic engineer onsite during all major events to document sound levels and make changes if required.

Queensland law sets 70 dB(A) as the limit between 7am and 10pm, measured at the nearest resident. We model every major event against that limit at the nearest homes, monitor levels continuously at the desk, and take roving readings in surrounding streets during the show.

Of course, being within the limit does not mean an event is inaudible. Low frequencies travel, and on some nights the weather carries sound further than modelling predicts. You may clearly hear music at home during an event that sits within the limits. That is why we publish event times in advance, staff the event line, and review every call afterwards.

If noise is affecting you during an event
