Inspiring and educational programs

Logan Art Gallery offers a range of free inspirational programs that respond to community needs.

Logan Artworkers Networking Events (LANE)

LANE is a networking program that gives artists from Logan and surrounding areas an opportunity to share their thoughts about current projects and issues. The events involve discussions about topics that are relevant to artists from broad artistic backgrounds. If you are an arts practitioner and would like to be involved in this exciting program, please call the Creative Industries Projects Officer 07 3412 5426 or email artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au. Bookings are essential.

Art + Dementia program

Art + Dementia is a discussion-based tour of artworks to provide intellectual stimulation and social inclusion for people with dementia and their companions.

The program is made possible by our trained volunteers. Participants are encouraged to:

  • contribute knowledge
  • engage in interpretation
  • express emotions
  • recall memories.

Research shows that being involved in this nationwide program can increase wellbeing and quality of life for participants. If you or someone you know would benefit from this program, please call us on 07 3412 5519 or email us at artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au.

Music in the Gallery

This program showcases the musical talent in Logan with an afternoon of live music at Logan Art Gallery. This is a free event and light refreshments are served following each performance. If you are a musician and would like to perform, or if you would like further information, please email us at artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au.

Descriptive exhibition tours

Join us for a descriptive tour of the current exhibitions. The tours are designed for vision-impaired visitors and aim to provide an experience of the exhibited works through spoken descriptions. These tours were designed with training from Vision Australia.

If you or someone you know would benefit from this program, please call us on 07 3412 5519 or email us at artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au.

School holiday programs

Fun, educational programs are offered for children during school holiday periods. All programs are held in conjunction with the current exhibitions. Hands-on practical workshops are designed to encourage children to develop ideas, experiment and respond creatively to the stimulus. ‘Drop in’ sessions offered during school holidays provide children with the opportunity to work with a collection of activities and to stay for as long or as little as they choose. Bookings are essential for workshops unless advertised as ‘drop in’ sessions.

Group bookings

If you’re bringing a large group to the gallery, please call and inform us of your visit. Our staff can provide free tours to interested groups if you book at least a week before your visit. Your group can also book practical activities to further enhance the visit.

Group bookings from schools, community or social groups are most welcome.

We welcome any age or level of ability.

Session times and length of sessions can be tailored to suit your needs.

We can arrange group after-school activities.

School holiday workshops are part of our regular programming.
