Fast-paced, playful, and packed with larger-than life characters, this 60-minute fresh re-imagining of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew brings one of the Bard’s most famous comedies to life for contemporary audiences. Performed by second-year Bachelor of Acting students, this abridged touring production embraces the wit, physical comedy and spirited chaos that have delighted audiences for centuries.

Beneath the laughter lies a story full of relatable conflicts: family expectations, sibling rivalries, misunderstandings, power struggles, and the search for love and connection. While remaining true to Shakespeare’s vibrant language and theatricality, this new adaptation invites audiences to explore and question some of the play’s more challenging themes, sparking lively conversations about gender, relationships, identity and social expectations.

With dynamic ensemble storytelling, inventive staging and plenty of comic mayhem, this engaging production offers an entertaining introduction to Shakespeare
while encouraging audiences of all ages to reflect on how classic stories continue to speak to our world today.

Fresh from acclaimed seasons at HOTA and Brisbane Powerhouse, KOAL comes to Kingston Butter Factory with a powerful story about the meaning of home in our changing climate.

Performed by Jacinta Yelland and directed by Trey Lyford, this one-woman physical theatre show takes audiences into the heart of the 2019 Australian bushfires. Through the stories of a baby koala, a coal miner and a Torres Strait Islander girl, KOAL moves from laugh-out-loud comedy to moments of heartbreak, exploring what happens when the places we call home are suddenly threatened or lost.

Blending documentary theatre, clown and audience interaction, KOAL is urgent, funny and deeply moving—a must-see performance about resilience, loss and the fight to protect our shared world.

The Scene Project returns to Kingston Butter Factory for the fourth year!
Each year, Queensland Theatre Company commissions a new script and challenges participating school drama groups to create their own unique 15-minute performances. Local schools come together to share their work with each other, engage in a reflective learning forum, and watch a cast of professional Queensland Theatre Company actors present a full interpretation of the script.

The Scene Project provides young artists and their teachers with an opportunity to engage in theatre making, experiment with ideas, and perform in a supportive, inspiring, and non-competitive space. It’s about creative collaboration, positioning students and teachers as artists, building confidence, and engaging with professional theatre makers and venues.

Enrolments open early Term 4, 2026 for the 2027 program.

A battle of the bands…. back by popular demand.
With a panel of judges from the music industry and great prizes up for grabs, school bands go head-to-head for their chance to be crowned Amplify’s Band of the Year. To enter, schools/bands are required to submit their expressions of interest via the Logan Arts website.

Students must be between the ages of 12 and 18 and be able to perform up to 3 original and/or cover songs. Songs must not contain any inappropriate language or offensive content and must be suitable for a family audience.

The finals will be held at Kingston Butter Factory on Saturday 11 September. Each band will be allocated a sound check on the Saturday afternoon and will play live that evening to impress judges and audience. The winning bands will be announced at the end of the event.

Tickets for the finals will be available via our Logan Arts website for community, family and friends to come along and support their favourite bands.

The vibrant Logan Drama Festival showcases the talents of high school students from across Logan, celebrating a wide range of performance styles and theatrical genres—from classical drama to contemporary works. With over 110 students involved in the 2026 event, the festival returns in 2027 for its third year, continuing to grow as a valued part of our local arts calendar.

For audiences, it’s a chance to experience an evening of live theatre that’s engaging, diverse, and full of energy—whether you’re a seasoned theatregoer or simply curious to see what young performers can do. You could be witnessing the next generation of performers, writers, and directors!

For schools, it’s an opportunity to highlight student talent, build confidence, and connect with the wider community. The festival supports arts education and gives students a platform to share their work in a professional setting.

The arts are thriving in Logan, and this festival is a powerful way to experience the originality, passion, and dedication our schools bring to the stage.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF BIN CHICKENS WERE TAKING OVER THE WORLD?

Stealing your hot chippies? Swooping your nan? Or even becoming Prime Minister of Australia? Charlie and the gang need your help to save the planet from BIN CHICKEN DOMINATION!

What’s in it for you, you ask? Cool-kid status and a lifetime supply of sausage rolls, of course! Packed with big laughs, cheeky chaos and plenty of heart, this show has it all! Rap battles, scooter tricks, detention escapades, giant messes and hilarious clean-ups. Audiences leave entertained, inspired and ready to do their bit to look after the environment.

This much-loved show has won the hearts of little bin chicken lovers and their families, selling out shows across the country. It was nominated for two Matilda Awards in 2025 for Best Ensemble and Best Set Design and won Best Children’s Theatre at Adelaide Fringe in 2022.
